Zadie Smith was born in northwest London in 1975. She is a novelist, essayist and short story writer. Her first novel, White Teeth, was the winner of the Whitbread First Novel Award, the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction and the Commonwealth Writers’ First Book Prize. She currently lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She presents her most recent work, NW. Set in northwest London, this brilliant tragicomic novel follows four locals—Leah, Natalie, Felix and Nathan—as they try to make adult lives outside of Caldwell, the council estate of their childhood.
