Anita Amirrezvani is the author of the novel The Blood of Flowers, which was longlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction. She is also a former dance critic. As part of her dance criticism career, she earned fellowships from the National Arts Journalism Program at Columbia University and the National Endowment for the Arts. She is currently an adjunct professor at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Amirrezvani’s Equal of the Sun tells the story of a powerful princess who must take over her father’s throne until her brother returns from exile to take over as shah. Upon his return, power struggles and epic battles of the heart and mind ensue.
