In Conversation with Ivan Coyote

Wednesday, April 5, 2017 - 7:30 PM
Brigantine Room, Harbourfront Centre
Reading/ Interview: IFOA Weekly
Participants: Ivan Coyote, Rachel Giese

IFOA Weekly is thrilled to present acclaimed author Ivan Coyote with their newest novel Tomboy Survival Guide. Coyote will be interviewed by award-winning Toronto journalist Rachel Giese. Bert Archer will host the event.

coyote_tomboysurvivalguideIvan writes about their years as a young butch, dealing with new infatuations and old baggage, and life as a gender-box-defying adult, in which they offer advice to young people while seeking guidance from others. Tomboy Survival Guide warmly recounts Ivan’s past as a diffident yet freespirited tomboy, and maps their journey through treacherous gender landscapes and a maze of labels that don’t quite stick, to a place of selfacceptance and an authentic and personal strength. The book is based on the stage show of the same name which continues to tour in Canada, the US and beyond.

“An emotionally powerful memoir by a great storyteller about normal life.”
