Promoting Your Writing

You may be a good writer, but is your writing getting the attention it deserves? How do you stand out? What are some low-cost ways to ensure your writing rises above the pack? What can YOU do to get your writing into the hands of reviewers and readers?
In this intensive one-day workshop, novelist Brian Francis and Random House of Canada publicity manager Adria Iwasutiak discuss the tools that will help you rise above the pack.
Topics will include:
- Building a great author website
- Navigating social media
- Generating buzz
- Creating dynamic author press kits
- Best ways to approach media
- Increasing your likeability
- What to do if your book isn’t generating media
- The seven questions to never ask a publicist (cue the Jaws theme)
- And more!
At the end of the session, you’ll have a better understanding of how book publicity works, how to get your writing into the hands of decision-makers and discover tips and techniques to help you gain a competitive edge in the publishing industry.
